Frequently Asked Questions

The world of Massage Therapy can sometimes be intimidating to those who haven’t experienced it before. This section offers guidance about what to expect at your first appointment. There is also helpful information for anyone curious about Massage Therapy.

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENTS ARE ACCEPTED?

Cash & most major credit cards are accepted.

Sorry, I do not accept checks at this time.

Do I need to undress to get a massage?

You do not need to be undressed. A massage is time that you have paid for and you will never be made to feel uncomfortable. However, many people do choose to undress as this allows better access to the muscles. Know that you will always be covered with a sheet or blanket for modesty. There is never inappropriate exposure during a massage session as this is unprofessional and unlawful. Strict draping protocols are always followed to preserve your modesty and level of comfort.

What can I expect at my first appointment?

The first time you arrive for a Massage Therapy session you will need to fill out some paperwork. It’s a good idea to arrive to your appointment 10 minutes early to allow for time to fill out the required forms. If you wear glasses for reading please bring them with you. The paperwork consists of contact information and a general health history. It’s important to fill out all of the information to the best of your knowledge.

The Massage Therapist will then go over your health history and assess your pain or tension. Next, you will be allowed to ask any questions you may have. The therapist will then leave the room to allow you to undress to your comfort level and get on the table. You will cover up with a sheet and blanket. When you’re ready, the therapist will re-enter the room and your massage can begin.

WHAT if I need to cancel?

Please try to give 24 hours notice for a cancellation. In that way, the appointment slot can be made available to those who need it. If an emergency arises and you need to cancel last minute, please call.

WHAT If I have allergies or Skin Sensitivities?

Always let your therapist know of any allergies or skin conditions so that they can use the best lotion or oils for your skin type. The oils and lotions used during a session are generally hypoallergenic, scent and dye free.

WHAT Qualifications does a Licensed Massage Therapist have?

In New York state LMT’s are required to complete 1000+ hours of education and 150 hours of hands on practice. An LMT must also pass a state examination and maintain registration with the NYS Office of Professions. LMT’s do continuing education throughout the course of their careers.

  Do you run specials?

Discounts and specials are offered. Please keep an eye on our social media pages (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) for limited time specials, or view our ongoing discounts on the discounts page.

Can I get a massage if I'm sick?

It is not a good idea to get a massage when you are sick. Your body cannot receive the full benefits of a session if you are ill. You also run the risk of getting your therapist sick. Stay home and rest until you feel better.

  Does the therapist diagnose illness?

No. A Massage Therapist is not a substitute for a doctor and cannot diagnose you.

WHAT if I'm late to an appointment?

If you are late it may end up taking time away from your massage. This is done so that time does not get taken from other client’s sessions. You will be expected to pay for the full session that was booked. All efforts will be made to ensure you get as much time as possible in the event that you are late.

Should I talk or remain silent during my session?

You may do whichever you feel comfortable doing. Some people enjoy the relaxation and peace of not talking. Other people find that not speaking can feel unnerving. Always remember your therapist will do their best to make you feel comfortable.

WHAT if I have additional questions?

If any of your questions are left unanswered, you need only ask! Please feel free to call, text or email me any questions you might have.
